Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular. While Kia has had hybrid vehicles for many years, those vehicles don’t need to be plugged in even though they do have an electric component to them. Kia now offers several plug-in hybrid models that allow the vehicle to be driven in fully electric mode, but there are two fully electric options you can choose from if you’re looking to ditch gasoline completely.

If you’re looking to go fully electric, Kia offers the Niro EV and the EV6. While more models are on their way, you can buy these two vehicles today.

2023 Niro PHEV

Let’s start with the Niro. The Kia Niro is going to be all-new for 2023. This all-new 2023 Niro is going to offer a full-electric model that achieves up to 253 miles of range. DC Fast Charging is standard and can power up the Niro EV with 100 miles of range in just 25 minutes. The all-new Kia EV6 is a technological marvel. Going toe-to-toe with the biggest EV players in the segment, the EV6 is an excellent electric vehicle. Starting at just $40,900 and even lower if you claim the full $7,500 Federal Tax Credit, the new EV6 can offer up to 310 miles of range on a single charge. The EV6 can easily tackle long drives and road trips because when hooked up to a DC Fast Charger like Electrify America, you can recharge up to 80% or 217 miles in just 18 minutes.

Charging either of these models is a breeze. Kia’s electric vehicles come standard with a J-1772 power plug to recharge on a level two outlet. This is commonly found at shopping centers, parks, apartment complexes, malls, and grocery stores and will recharge the vehicle at a rate from 15-30 miles of range per hour depending on conditions. You can also get this level two plug installed in your garage so you always leave your home with a full electric tank. This is where electric vehicles shine because you never have to worry about stopping for gasoline on your commute.

2023 Niro EV

If you really don’t drive very much, you can even plug your electric Kia into a standard wall outlet. While this won’t win any speed races, you can expect one-four miles of range per hour using this method. This is key if you live in a city where you don’t drive every day and only drive a few miles at a time. This is a very cost-effective way to drive and a clean way to maneuver around the city.

DC Fast Charging is the way to make it long distances in a short amount of time. Using the embedded Kia navigation, it will plan where you need to stop and for how long in order to reach your destination. Using the flip-down cover to access the rest of the charging port, both the Kia EV6 and Kia Niro EV are equipped with DC Fast Charging in order to further the movement of accessible electric vehicles and decrease the problem of range anxiety.
