2022 Kia Niro: What’s New?
The new 2022 Kia Niro was announced last August. The newness of the hybrid has yet to wear off, so we at Landers Kia did some digging on what exactly is new about this new model and how it differs from the previous year. Read further to learn what we know.
Introducing: 2022 Kia Niro
The new 2022 Kia Niro updated more than just the new Kia badge. The 2022 Niro runs with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine plus a parallel hybrid system. This combination creates 139 horsepower to get you up and running to your destination.
Similar to the Past
Kia decided revisions were in order for the 2022 Niro instead of starting nearly from scratch. This leaves the 2022 version of the Niro with similarities between this and the previous 2021 model year. Both are front-wheel drive and the basic ‘tiger-nose’ grille shape was kept. Of course, Kia’s goal to continually improve and keep their passengers safe can be expected with every new Kia vehicle, no matter the model name that follows.
What’s New
With the new Niro, you can expect an updated interior and refined exterior. The interior adds a digital display behind the wheel and the option to add a 10.25-inch touchscreen between the driver and the front passenger. This touchscreen not only replaces radio dials with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and your favorite radio stations, but it also connects multiple users to their preferred navigation settings. The exterior was restyled with the new Kia logo, as well as an updated grille. While the grille keeps to the ‘tiger-nose’ shape, the look was revised to add a 3D diamond design with the grille shape.
