Design
The 2022 Niro, a compact hybrid SUV, cut no corners when it came to surpassing expectations; however, outside of the new Kia badge added to the front grille, tailgate, steering wheel, and wheel caps, most upgrades can be found in the engine and interior. That doesn’t mean that the Niro will blend into the ordinary with its exterior design. The grille has a 3D diamond pattern and the entire exterior was modernized to give the SUV a more refined look.
Engine
The 2022 Niro Hybrid powertrain includes a 1.6-liter GDI engine, electric motor, and a 1.56 kWh lithium-ion polymer hybrid battery. The hybrid system combined gives the Niro 139 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. With Sport Mode activated, the Niro’s gears shift smoother, steering is improved, and there’s increased throttle response. The Niro also has regenerative braking, which is braking that recharges your battery as you slow.

Overall Interior
Some smaller details added to the Niro interior are the trim-based options. Some customizable options include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, concealed underfloor storage, a sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, and even more driver perks. The driver can have a heated steering wheel for cold Arkansas mornings, plus other technology and safety features added to make driving less stressful.
Technology and Safety Features
The Niro comes standard with an eight-inch touchscreen display, with an available 10.25-inch touchscreen. It is now standard for a car’s touchscreen to come with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Niro isn’t the exception. The dashboard design includes an eight-inch LCD command center to share the car’s information with the driver at a moment’s notice. The safety features available for the 2022 Niro Hybrid are Forward Collision-Avoidance, Blindspot Collision Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning, Lane Following Assist, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, High Beam Assist, Driver Attention Warning with Lead Vehicle Departure Alert, and Parking Distance Warning.
