Landers Lunches Makes Sure That No Kid Goes Hungry This Summer

June 28th, 2021 by

For many children, public schools provide the majority of their nutritional needs. With free and reduced breakfasts, lunches and after-school nutrition programs, children are able to get the sustenance they need during the school year. But what about the summer months? To make sure that our children in Central Arkansas get the nutrition they need this summer, the Landers Auto Group of Little Rock has launched Landers Lunches.

According to the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, Arkansas ranks fourth highest in the nation for childhood hunger and nearly one in three children experience food hardship. We believe that no one should go to bed hungry, especially not a growing child. Through donations to the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance and No Kid Hungry, we will provide meals to children in the Little Rock School District and Pulaski County Special School District to ensure they receive the nutrition they need to grow and excel! For every $25 donated, we can provide 125 meals. We will be providing 75,000 meals to children in Central Arkansas this summer with our donation!

Landers Lunches is a part of our Do Good Feel Good Initiative, our dedication to support and give back to our community. Some of our most popular causes include Crush for a Cure hosted by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Classroom Heroes.

Crush for a Cure is hosted by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at the Arkansas State Fair annually. For one dollar per swing, visitors can smash their stress away as they “crush” a clunker car. The proceeds are donated to the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS in Little Rock to support cancer research locally.

The Classroom Heroes Award was created in the 2020 fall semester to honor remarkable teachers in Arkansas during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each month, nominations from peers, parents and students are judged, and one winner is chosen to receive $500 to share with their school and a gift bag. At the end of the semester, the public votes online for the Semester Hero who is honored with $5,000 to share with their school and a special Classroom Heroes trophy.
