Kia Introduced the All-New 2022 EV6 in Times Square

On May 18th in Times Square, Kia Motors North America introduced their first-ever dedicated electric vehicle: the 2022 Kia EV6. The EV6 represents the first step of their transformative new electrification strategy, “Plan S.” With incredible style, ultra-fast charging and an impressive 300-mile driving range, the EV6 positions Kia as a manufacturer to watch in the race to electrification. 

As Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle, the EV6 is also the first vehicle to be built on Kia’s new platform for BEVs, the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This new platform is rear-wheel based with available AWD capability with a front electric motor, constructed of 75% high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel and features an underfloor-mounted battery for low center of gravity for stability. 

The all-new 2022 EV6 is offered with either the 58.0 kWh and 77.4 kWh battery. The 58.0 kWh battery is paired with RWD and offers 167 horsepower. The 77.4 kWh battery provides 218 horsepower with RWD and 313 horsepower with AWD. For the thrill-seeking drivers, Kia will offer a GT trim level in 2022. This trim will be powered by the 77.4 kWh battery with a 160kW front motor and a 270kW rear motor that yields 576 horsepower and has an estimated 0-60 mph performance of 3.5 seconds!

In addition to its incredible performance and driving range, the all-new 2022 EV6 features the world’s first 800V multi-charging architecture that supports 400v and 800v DC charging with speeds ranging from 50kW to 350kW. 800v charging at a speed of 350kW can charge the EV6 from ten to 80 percent (up to 210 miles) in just 18 minutes. In less than five minutes, it can add nearly 70 miles. The battery also allows consumers to use their EV6 as a portable generator that powers everything from laptops to home improvement projects to camping or tailgating necessities. 

Kia thoughtfully designed every component of the EV6 to be functional, stylish and sustainable. Recycled plastics are used extensively throughout the interior and available vegan-leather seat trim offers a luxurious feel without the environmental consequences. The 12-inch center cluster and infotainment displays offer blue-light filtered screens to minimize eye strain and offer all the entertainment applications you need including: Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, UVO link and more. For those long road trips or remote camping trips, the available WiFi hotspot ensures that you and your passengers stay connected wherever you roam. 

Of course, the new EV6 wouldn’t be a Kia without a tremendous menu of advanced safety features. With a comprehensive list of 21 standard Advanced Driver Safety Systems, drivers will feel secure whether they’re zipping around town or cruising down the highway. Arguably the most influential new feature is Highway Driving Assist II (HDA 2), a driving assistance system that intelligently maintains a safe distance from the car ahead and keeps the vehicle centered in its lane. Additionally, HDA 2 assists with lane changes while Blind-Spot Avoidance Assist alerts the driver of obstacles in their blind spot.
