How to Celebrate Memorial Day in Central Arkansas

Fireworks at Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs
On Sunday, May 30, the city of Hot Springs is hosting a fireworks display at Lake Hamilton at the HIghway 7 South Bridge. Each year, the popular tourist city signals the beginning of the summer season with a fireworks display shot from the middle of Lake Hamilton from barges. Visitors can enjoy the fireworks from land or the water, so it’s the perfect excuse to make a day of it and boat, tube and swim! Learn more from the city of Hot Springs website.
Northshore BalloonFest
Celebrate Memorial Day weekend flying over Little Rock in a hot air balloon! Friday May 28-30 from 4-9 p.m. the Northshore Golf Range will offer hot air balloon rides, tethered balloon rides and balloon glows along with live music and food from local vendors. Click the link to purchase tickets.
Hike at Pinnacle Mountain
Just down the road from Little Rock, Pinnacle Mountain State Park offers over 15 miles of trails for your Memorial Day Weekend fun. For a leisurely stroll, try the 1.5-mile Base Trail. Red, White and Zoo Days at the Little Rock Zoo
In honor of Military Appreciation Month, the Little Rock Zoo is offering free admittance to military families during Memorial Day weekend. The zoo will be open on May 29-31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and reservations must be made in advance. Learn more and reserve your tickets here.
WAT22 5k Ruck March and Music and Arts Festival
We are the 22 (WAT22) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to fight the veteran suicide epidemic through peer-based intervention. This year, the organization is hosting their first-ever 5k Ruck March through Little Rock and North Little Rock ending at the Yadaloo main stage area for a music and arts festival.
