Kia has a vision for the future, and that vision is for there to be no bounds or limits on transportation and mobility opportunities. There will be new technologies as part of the brand’s strategy to make cars more Autonomous, Connected and Eco/Electric.

“‘Boundless for all’ is Kia’s future vision — where everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the infinite value that future mobility will bring,” Vice Chairman and Head of Kia R&D Dr. Woon-chul Yang said in a press release. “This is Kia’s manifesto for its role as a mass mobility provider in the future. Consumers are bound today by the idea that a car is ‘just a vehicle,’ but Kia is committed to providing a broader solution to mobility. ‘Boundless for all’ represents a future in which a vehicle can be so much more than the sum of its parts.”

The ACE strategy has three main components:

1. Autonomous

Kia will commercialize Level 4 autonomous driving technology with its “Smart City” autonomous vehicle testing that will begin in 2021.

2. Connected

Kia will embrace connected technologies across every vehicle segment it has by 2025, and make every model it sells a connected car by 2030.

3. Eco/Electric

Kia will create 16 new advanced powertrain vehicles by 2025, which will include hybrids, plug-in hybrids, electric vehicles and a fuel-cell electric vehicle in 2020.

Kia already has several hybrid and electric vehicles, and introduced the Kia Niro EV Concept car in early January. The Kia Niro, which is the brand’s first ever dedicated hybrid crossover, has been joined by a new-for-2018 Kia Niro Plug-In Hybrid. With the Niro EV concept, the vehicle would be fully electric. The only other vehicle in the Kia lineup so far that is fully electric, is the Soul EV.

We’re looking forward to the future of Kia and the new vehicles, powertrains and technologies it will birth through this vision for the future.
