The 2018 Kia Rio was ranked the top vehicle in the Small Car category for J.D. Power’s 2018 Vehicle Dependability Study . J.D. Power is a big name in the car industry and this study looks at problems reported in the previous 12 months by original owners of three-year-old vehicles. This year’s study was for the 2015 model year.

“The results of the J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study demonstrate Kia’s continued commitment to quality and in building world-class products that offer tremendous value to our customers,” Greg Silvestri, head of service operations for Kia Motors America, said in a Kia press release.

Overall, Kia vehicles ranked second among Non-Premium car brands and gained 12 rank positions since the 2016 study, which is designed to measure long-term quality of vehicles.

The 2018 Stinger is Kia’s foray into the sport sedan segment and it’s been garnering a lot of buzz and accolades lately. Most recently, MotorWeek named the Stinger the Best of the Year, as well as the title of Best Sport Sedan, in the 2018 Drivers’ Choice Awards .

The Drivers’ Choice Awards are MotorWeek magazine’s televised event each year, and the editorial staff evaluates 150+ vehicles. The winners are selected based on dollar value, fuel efficiency, performance, technology and driving dynamics.

“Our annual Drivers’ Choice Awards look at vehicles from a buyer’s point of view,” MotorWeek Host John Davis said in a Kia press release. “We are aware of trends and innovations, and they play a large part in our selection process. We also understand that consumers want value and reliability and that’s where we believe the Kia Stinger hits the sweet spot. It’s practical, great to look at, and can be a performance car or an everyday driver, depending on who’s behind the wheel.”
