Kia Rio and Kia Rio 5-Door – What’s the Difference?
The Kia Rio is Kia’s smallest and most economical vehicle and it’s got an adorable sibling, the Rio 5-Door . Both get great gas mileage, can zip around on the highway and are perfect cars for first-time drivers and those on a budget.
The basic difference between the Rio and Rio 5-Door are in the number of doors. The Rio is a four-door sedan and the Rio 5-Door is a hatchback. Below we’ll tell you the similarities and differences between the two models.

KIA RIO
The Kia Rio comes in two grades, LX and EX. MSRP starts at just $14,165.
Both grades are powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder Gas Direct Injected engine that gives 138 horsepower, 123 pound feet of torque and 27 city / 36 highway MPG. The engine in the LX works with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The engine in the EX works with the six-speed automatic transmission.
The Rio has a ton of great features, like 15-inch alloy or steel wheels, chrome front grille surround, rear window defroster, UVO2 infotainment system with rear camera display, Bluetooth, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, USB/auxiliary input jacks and dual 12V power outlets in the front.
The maximum cargo space with the rear seat up is 13.7 cubic feet.

KIA RIO 5-DOOR
The Kia Rio 5-Door has one extra grade: LX, EX and SX. Starting MSRP is a little higher than the Rio at $15,495.
The 5-Door is powered by the same engine as the Rio, it works with the six-speed automatic transmission and gets the same MPG.
Rio 5-Door has the same great features as the Rio as well as a rear spoiler, high mounted stomp lamp, cargo cover, cargo under floor tray and net, leather seating, heated front seats and navigation with SiriusXM Traffic.
As the 5-Door is a hatchback, it has much more cargo space than the Rio. With the rear seat folded down without luggage under the tray, the 5-Door has a maximum cargo capacity of 49.8 cubic feet.
