The Rio has four doors and the Rio 5-Door has a hatch with more cargo room. The 2016 Rio comes in three trims, the LX, EX and SX. Starting MSRP is $14,165 for the LX and $15,495 for the 5-Door.

The 2016 Rio is powered by a 1.6L engine that produces 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque. The Rio produces a city/highway average mpg of 31 miles, so your teen driver has enough power to get around but won’t have to fill up too often.

Not only is the 2016 Rio a sculpted, sporty-looking car, but it has an optional color touchscreen with UVO eServices and navigation. Standard in every Rio are steering-wheel mounted controls, dual front 12V power outlets and USB/auxiliary input jacks so your kid is always connected and charged up.

You won’t have to worry (as much) about your son or daughter driving a 2016 Rio because of its safety features, which include: airbag system, anti-lock brakes, a vehicle stability management system, traction control, hill-start assist, tire pressure monitoring system and more.

* 2016 KIA FORTE *

The Forte is available in LX and EX trims, Starting MSRP for the LX is $16,600.

The 2016 Forte is powered by one of two engine options. The 1.8L engine produces 145 horsepower and 130 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0L engine produces 173 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque. The Forte gets an average city/highway mpg of 32 miles with the 1.8L engine and 28 miles with the 2.0L engine.

Like the Rio, the 2016 Forte has a European look. Exterior features include: projector beam headlights, heated outside mirrors, solar control glass, LED lighting and more.

If you choose the Forte for your teenager, they’ll have some pretty sweet interior and tech features. The Forte comes standard with Bluetooth, front 12V power outlets, USB/auxiliary input jacks, 60/40 split-fold rear seats and remote keyless entry. Optional features are heated steering wheel, 4.2-inch LCD display inside the meter cluster, 4/3-inch rear-camera display and heated and ventilated driver’s seats.

Your kid will be just as safe in the 2016 Forte as they will be in the 2016 Rio as it has the same great safety features.
