2022 Kia Stinger Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award

August 13th, 2021 by

Three cheers and a honk on your horn for the 2022 Kia Stinger! The 2022 Kia Stinger has been awarded the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) designation. The sports sedan received this award thanks to the standard LED headlights that were added to help keep the road visible through all conditions.

To even be eligible for the TSP+, the car must first rank “good” on crash testing and various other evaluations. Each year the criteria evolves and becomes more rigorous in an attempt to keep safety standards high for vehicle manufacturers. The six crashworthiness categories that the Stinger ranked “good” in are driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests. Each of these categories is a practice test performed with dummy mannequins inside.

In the vehicle-to-vehicle evaluation, the 2022 Kia Stinger’s Forward Collision Avoidance Assist received “superior,” while receiving “advanced” in the vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluation. The Stinger is prepared to help you see and avoid accidents before they occur.

One of Kia’s main goals is to keep its passengers safe, so it is no surprise that other Kia vehicles have also received the TSP+ award. The 2021 K5 earned the same award earlier this year. The 2021 Soul, Forte, Seltos, Sportage, Sorento, and Telluride also earned the Top Safety Pick thanks to safety features and headlights that Kia has added to their standard features.
