The 2023 Kia Sportage HEV was introduced in October 2021 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. With Kia’s goal of making advancements in sustainable mobility, it’s no surprise that the Sportage HEV would be released as soon as 2022. The 2023 model plans to make its appearance late next year. With the rugged SUV look and being built in Georgia, the 2023 Sportage HEV is distinctly different when compared to other SUVs in its class.

A 1.6-liter turbo GDI engine, available active AWD, and 1.49-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery work to create up to 226 horsepower. Though bigger than previous years, the HEV runs with even more stunning performance. While the torque wasn’t offered in the press release, we can assume that it will be similar if not better than the Sorento HEV at 258 lb.-ft. When full of charge, the 2023 Sportage Hybrid will be able to drive over 500 miles easily before another charge will be needed. The 44 kWh motor only joins the crew under the hood to enhance the driving experience.

Within the cabin, the driving experience is amplified by the 12.3-inch instrumental panel display and 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen display at the driver’s disposal. The instrumental panel will connect the driver to the vehicle by offering any crucial vehicle information needed while driving. The touchscreen is where the driver can connect their phone for even more seamless driving. The two screens together create a 25-inch screen of information. The infotainment centers of the car are there to make the interior of the car as futuristic as the exterior. To bring together the stylish interior, the cabin will also have angular air vents, an asymmetrical console, patterned seats, and a hanger for coats or bags behind the front headrests.

The infotainment displays aren’t the only tech the 2023 Sportage comes with. You can expect the memorized personalized seat and mirror positions with the SX Prestige trim. The Sportage also has standard LED lights and the 2023 version is expected to include an increase in available cargo space. Safety features include a Blind-Spot View Monitor, 360 Surround-View Monitor, and Rear Occupant Warning.
